Changes at UFL

Joel B. Cohen, Distinguished Service Professor of Marketing and Adjunct Professor of Anthropology at the University of Florida, will become Emeritus Professor as of January 2008. He will continue in his position as Director of the Center for Consumer Research at the University of Florida for three additional years.

Forthcoming publications include:

“On the Consumption of Negative Feelings” (with Eduardo B. Andrade). Journal of Consumer Research, October 2007.

“The Role of Affect in Consumer Judgment and Decision Making,” (with Michel Tuan Pham and Eduardo B. Andrade) to appear in Curtis P. Haugtvedt, Paul Herr, and Frank Kardes (eds.) Handbook of Consumer Psychology. Mahwah, NJ: Lawrence Erlbaum.

“Affect-Based Evaluation and Regulation as Mediators of Behavior: The Role of Affect in Risk Taking, Helping and Eating Patterns,” (with Eduardo B. Andrade) to appear in Roy Baumeister, Kathleen Vohs, and George Loewenstein (eds.) Do Emotions Help or Hurt Decision Making? Russell Sage Foundation.

New Positions:

  • The Marketing Department at California State University at Long Beach is excited about the new faculty that will be joining us in Fall 2007. They include Alex Wu, joining us from Northern Iowa State University (Utah), Tianjiao Qiu (University of Illinois), Sayantini Mukherjee (University of California-Irvine), Risto Moisio (Nebraska), and Hieu Nguyen (University of Texas-Dallas). 
     
  • Ron Hill will be joining the Villanova School of Business and will serve as the Senior Associate Dean for Intellectual Strategy. Ron will be appointed as a Professor in the Department of Marketing and the holder of the Richard J. and Barbara Naclerio Endowed Chair effective July 31, 2006.
     
  • Julie Toner has been named the Founding Dean of the Graduate School at Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY. The Graduate School will centralize the marketing, admissions, financial aid and retention functions of Bellarmine's 10 graduate programs.
     
  • Sonya Grier, former Asst. Professor of Marketing at Stanford University has joined with American University faculty as Associate Prof. of Marketing starting fall 2006.
